Keep reading to learn more about Dr. Josh…. with fair warning… Dr. Josh loves talking to and learning about people and always brings his own unique sense of humor along for the ride.

“Everything is fun if you let it be” . . . he apologies in advance for the animal jokes, obscure puns, and medical anecdotes!

Where were you born?

Shorewood, Illinois… but I was born in Hawaii ;-)

What’s your favorite hobby?

Learning!!!!!!!

Why is ‘learning’ your favorite hobby…? What do you enjoy learning about…?

Learning how to use new healing modalities for my animal patients. Learning how to improve the mental health of my colleagues, veterinary profession, and as a result . . . myself.

You are a veterinarian . . . why did you decide to go into pet health care?

I wanted to work with animals my whole life, but I decided that I wanted to be a vet when my dog Rascal hit a car (not a typo) and required surgery.

I was 14 years old and Rascal was my first dog and my responsibility. I didn't want to leave him. Our vet, Doc Jay, let me stay to watch the surgery - I started working at his clinic shortly after. The rest is history!

What's your favorite thing about your career?

Helping animals and their families everyday.

The opportunity to educate animal caregivers about their fur-covered family members.

Do you have pets of your own?

I have 3 dogs: Brody, Panda, and Herbie.

I have 2 cats: Dug and Taylor.

I have 3 rabbits: David Hasselhop, Audrey Hopburn, and Macy Gray.

 What’s your favorite quote?

"We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them." Albert Einstein

What's the most daring thing you've ever done?

The most daring things I have done are cliff diving Black Rock in Maui and safari with the lions in Kenya.

Aside from necessities, what's one thing you could not go without?

A life without music is not worth living.

If you had to describe yourself as an animal, which one would it be?

I would describe myself as an Otter.

I'm outgoing, networker/motivator, always on the move, and very curious. Anything can be interesting if one looks at it from a different angle.
