CFTH Podcast - Episode 6

Eating Disorders within the Healthcare Professions with Destiny Rendon, MA, LMHC

In this episode, we are addressing an important yet often overlooked issue: eating disorders within the healthcare community. While health professionals are dedicated to caring for others, they themselves are not immune to the pressures and stresses of their demanding roles. These pressures, combined with unique workplace dynamics, may lead to the development of eating disorders or create added obstacles towards recovery.

In this episode, we explore how these disorders manifest among healthcare workers, the factors contributing to their prevalence, and the barriers to seeking help. Join us as we uncover the complexities of eating disorders in the medical field and discuss ways to support those affected.

Destiny Rendon, MA, LMHC (she/they) is a licensed psychotherapist located in Olympia, WA. She specializes in treating eating disorders, trauma, and mood disorders. Destiny has worked with clients in community mental health clinics, intensive outpatient eating disorder programs, and in private practice.

Their training and integrative approach includes a variety of modalities such as Psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, Psychodynamic therapy, EMDR, Transpersonal psychology, Nature-based therapy, Dialectical behavioral therapy, and Cognitive behavioral therapy. Destiny's practice is informed through an anti-oppression framework, body liberation, feminist, and social justice lens.
